Based on data from Public Health England, our Galle AG scientists predicted a massive drop in the protection of complete vaccinations (Comirnaty, BioNTec/Pfizer) against infections with the SARS-CoV-2 virus also in Saxony in August 2021.
The forecast of the decline in protection over time (A, full line) was included in the 19th SaxoCOV bulletin in November 2021 and is now confirmed by data from other countries.
The prognosis for the proportion of the 60+ population protected by vaccination in Saxony (B, protection) shows that this is currently well below the 50% mark, despite a vaccination rate of approx. 80% (B, vaccination). Booster vaccination is therefore urgently needed in this age group.
